HELPING FAMILIES RESET, RECONNECT & MOVE FORWARD

RESET is a 14-week family-centred program for teens aged 12–17 and their families who may be experiencing ongoing conflict, communication difficulties or other challenges at home.

For the first 10 weeks, teens stay at AMCAL during the week while continuing to attend their regular school, and return home every weekend. At the same time, parents and guardians receive ongoing support and participate in family counselling.

Families then receive an additional 4 weeks of support as teens return home full-time, helping everyone put new strategies into practice and build on the progress they have made.

WHAT DOES A WEEK AT RESET LOOK LIKE?

During the week, teens stay at AMCAL from Monday after school to Friday morning while continuing to attend their regular school. Evenings include structured routines, homework time, group activities, life skills and opportunities to build communication and emotional regulation.

On weekends, teens return home, giving families time to reconnect and put new strategies into practice together.

Throughout the program, parents and guardians are actively involved through weekly parent support and family counselling, helping the whole family work toward meaningful and lasting change.

BECAUSE LASTING CHANGE HAPPENS TOGETHER

RESET is designed to keep families connected throughout the program. Weekends at home give families time to reconnect, practice new strategies and build on what they are learning with support from the RESET team.

COULD RESET BE RIGHT FOR YOUR FAMILY?

Our program is designed for families experiencing ongoing challenges with their adolescent and who may benefit from additional structure, support, counselling, and opportunities to strengthen family relationships.

RESET may be helpful when your family is experiencing:

  • Ongoing conflict or difficulty communicating

  • Emotional or behavioural challenges

  • Changes in school engagement, motivation or attendance

  • Increasing distance or disconnection within the family

  • Conflict that is becoming more frequent or intense

  • Stress that is making communication harder and leaving parents unsure how to help

You don't have to wait until things reach a breaking point to ask for support.

RESET is for families with teens ages 12–17.

  • Youth must be enrolled full-time in school

  • Both the youth and parent(s)/guardian(s) must consent to participate

Wondering if RESET could be right for your family?

You don't need a referral to contact us. The first step is simply a conversation with the RESET coordinator to learn more, ask questions and determine whether the program may be a good fit for your family's needs.

If RESET seems like a good fit, the next step is an assessment meeting to better understand your family's needs and goals. From there, the RESET team will guide you through the next steps and help your family prepare for the program.
