OUR STORY
Rooted in community since 1975
AMCAL began in 1975 when a group of concerned citizens recognized the need for a drop-in centre for young people in their community. What started as a grassroots initiative has grown into a network of programs supporting children, youth and families through a wide range of needs and challenges.
More than 50 years later, that community-driven spirit continues to shape who we are.
our vision
Creating a community where families are empowered with the knowledge, resources and support they need to thrive.
Our mission
Healthier Families. Happier Homes. Stronger Communities.
Our mission is to preserve and foster healthy relationships by supporting and empowering children, youth, young adults and parents.
WHAT GUIDES US

FAMILY-CENTRED
We place families at the centre of the decisions, services and support that affect them.

responsive
We evolve alongside the changing needs of children, youth, families and communities.

ACCESSIBLE
We work to reduce barriers so families can access the support they need.

COMMUNITY-CONNECTED
We build partnerships that strengthen the network of support around families.
our approach
Support that starts with understanding.
Every family comes to AMCAL with their own experiences, strengths and challenges. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we work with families to understand where they are, what they need and what moving forward can look like for them.
01
We
listen
Understanding each family's experiences and circumstances comes first.
02
We work alongside
Families are active participants in identifying their needs and working toward meaningful change.
03
We build on strengths
We help families recognize and build on the skills, relationships and resources they already have.
