Emerging Adults Family Counselling

Emerging Adults Family Counselling: strengthening families…

Do you have a twenty something adult child who seems “stuck” making the transition from adolescence to adulthood? In 2011, in response to requests from the community, AMCAL developed Emerging Adults, to address the needs of adult children (i.e. aged 18-30 years) still living in the family home.

The nine-week program is divided into three parts:

  • 3 sessions with the parents & emerging adult
  • 3 sessions with the parents only
  • 3 sessions with the emerging adult only

The goal is to support family members in setting boundaries and goals, and to develop a long-term plan—so the young person can function better as an adult & the family can establish a new equilibrium.
