CSSS-FAMILIES FIRST PROGRAM PRIORITE JEUNESSE Public Health Prevention Program

The Families First Program is designed to provide short-term intervention for children who are experiencing difficulties at school that may be helped by addressing family issues at home.
Amcal incorporates a multi-disciplinary, strengths-based, solution-focused approach. We work in conjunction with both the family and the school, to identify ways the family can improve their child’s emotional health and academic success.
The service includes:

Home-based family counselling on a weekly basis, to support parents and provide strategeis to assist in the child's academic success.

Liaison between the school and the family.

Classroom observations.

Facilitation of connections with relevant community resources when appropriate.

Parent workshops in designated schools.
Who is the service intended for? The program is offered to families and students from Kindergarten to grade 6, ONLY for schools within the CSSS Pierrefonds territory.
Duration We offer ten family sessions.
Where will the sessions take place? At the family’s home and/or at the school.
Cost Service fee is provided by a grant from the CSSS Pierrefonds, for schools identified within the defined CSSS Pierrefonds territory.

CSSS-SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAMS PRIORITE JEUNESSE Public Health Prevention Program

This program is offered in conjunction with the CSSS Pierrefonds. This special grant allows Amcal Family Services to offer schools in the designated area workshops created to develop pro social competencies in children and youth.
These programs incorporate a social-emotional learning approach designed to help children build more positive peer relationships, increase positive character traits, make more appropriate decisions, and develop more effective strategies for dealing with situations.
Who is the program intended for? The program is offered to elementary schools identified within the defined CSSS Pierrefonds territory.
What programs are offered? The following programs are presently being offered, and can be adapted to fit the needs of your school or organization:

Making Friends – Staying Friends – K, Grades 1, 2 & 3 (six sessions of ½ hour).

About You/About Me Program– Grades 4, 5 & 6 (eight sessions of one hour).
Where will the sessions take place? Schools identified within the defined CSSS Pierrefonds territory.
Cost Service fee is provided by a grant from the CSSS Pierrefonds, for schools identified within the defined CSSS Pierrefonds territory.

Amcal offers elementary schools in the Montreal area, on a fee-for-service basis, a number of structured, preventative programs created to develop pro social competencies in children and youth.
These programs incorporate a social-emotional learning approach designed to help children build more positive peer relationships, increase positive character traits, make appropriate decisions, and develop more effective strategies for dealing with situations.
